It's Pretty Much the Jist
Hi. So, against my better judgement- since I have about 12 other sites to maintain- I thought I'd start a new place where I can, in a more "official" way- whatever the hell that means- log some of my music related rants, interesting site experiences, amazing poster finds, and well- at times, just vent about weather or typography (fonts not maps). I call myself j.clutch- penned from a good friend that always reaped the benefits of me having what he needed, when he needed it- i.e. coming through in the clutch. It stuck because, unfortunately, I am reliable and as others would tell you do always seem to be over prepared for any situation. I consider myself a dinosaur because I'm one of the only people I know that still buys CD's, vinyl records, and show posters; somewhat religiously. I own over 1500 albums and maybe 100 prints- and as far as music is concerned, only qualifies me to be a prententious dick when I want to be, and then incredibly open-minded at other times. I really don't consider myself too far on the pretentious side because unlike most music snobs, I don't want to keep all my knowledge a secret, I want others to listen to good music- and realize they have a choice over radio! I love lots of different music and hope to lay some of it on the line right here behind these digital walls. Ooh? good name for a band? ( I say that constantly- so get used to it) I've played bass for about 4 years and guitar for almost 10- but have no steady band right now- if I did I'd be playing- not typing. Some of the bands I've been in are listed on this site. I guess that's it for now- I spent too much time setting this thing up to write anymore today. Oh, I'm a graphic designer so I'm in front of a computer about 9-14 hours a day- you'd think I wouldn't want to come home and type to myself? Apparently I'm more self absorbed than logical; tip of the iceberg. (band name? - anyone?)
I made this design today after seeing a postcard that completely described a dream I had the previous night of a plane crash... That and ever sinced I moved back to the city I'm paranoid a plane is going to crash while I watch it fly.

man I've always wanted to know the origin of "clutch." but I was afraid to ask b/c I thought you would say..."dude, no one asks that." and then I would bow my head and walk away.
i love that design. you know how they say a picture is worth a thousand words? well, i think this one is worth a million.
